چکیده

The coral reef habitats have been facing insightful threats from natural and anthropogenic sources across the world; while are creating major ecological pressure with maximum percentage of devastation to entire ecosystems. Acanthaster planci (L) or Crown-of-Thorns Sea star (CoTS) is known as potential predator corals can disrupt ecosystem their outbreaks within much-stipulated time.  CoTS reported all areas Andaman Nicobar Islands a mean density 0.71/ hectare range 1.08±0.33 0.40±0.18 per between North & Middle Nicobar, respectively. distributional pattern signifies that crest represents occurrence in comparison slop top; an inversely proportional relationship be seen individuals depth gradients. Maximum association recorded acroporidae corallivorous impacts also poritidae which not much world. No observation on population was made during decadal study period intrinsically noted limit level CoTS. presence predators like used take leading role balancing ecology denotes healthy this archipelago.

Distribution of coral reef fishes along a coral reef–seagrass gradient: edge effects and habitat segregation

Coral reefs and seagrass beds are often located adjacent to one another, but little is known about the degree to which their fish communities are interlinked. To determine whether coral reef fishes on the coral reef are interlinked with or segregated from fishes on adjacent seagrass beds, a 60 m coral reef–seagrass gradient was studied on the island of Zanzibar in the western Indian Ocean. Valuation of mangrove services of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India

Mangroves of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are matter of concern in climate change scenario.
